Sheryl Crow sells her Tesla and donates money to NPR which is ‘under threat by President Musk’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Grammy-winning singer Sheryl Crow has gotten rid of her Tesla while Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency continues to downsize federal agencies.

The ‘Strong Enough’ singer sold her Musk-manufactured Tesla because she’s no longer “willing to align” herself with the billionaire who has become a prominent face in the Trump administration, per Deadline.

Sheryl Crow says ‘So long Tesla’ in response to ‘President Musk’ and his criticism of NPR

Sheryl Crow used to be a passionate Tesla user who even engaged with Elon Musk about her vehicle on social media.

The environmentally-conscious singer’s support for electric vehicles has been overshadowed by her concern over the right-wing political stance taken by a man she now refers to as “President Musk.”

The Grammy-winning singer announced on Instagram on Friday, February 13, that she was selling her Tesla and giving the proceeds to National Public Radio (NPR), which has been the target of recent attacks by President Donald Trump.

“My parents always said… you are who you hang out with. There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla,” Crow captioned the photo, which featured a video of her grinning and waving as her Tesla was dragged away.

“Money donated to @npr, which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth. #PresidentMusk #PresidentTrump #Call1-202-224-3141 #ProtectTheConstitution,” the singer added.

Since taking office for a second term, Trump has persisted in criticizing news outlets whose reporting he disagrees with. In more recent times, he has been critical of NPR and PBS.

Moreover, NPR and PBS member stations are under investigation by Brendan Carr, the newly appointed chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, who is worried that their “broadcasts could be violating federal law by airing commercials,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

Musk has long been disgruntled with NPR, threatening to remove their X (formerly Twitter) account in 2023. Now in Trump’s second term, Musk has made no secret of his desire to reduce what he views as “government waste.”

As part of Trump’s plans to drastically cut expenditure, eliminate jobs, and cut back on some programs, Musk and his unofficial government agency DOGE have been working nonstop to “delete entire agencies” from the US federal government.
